Welcome to Treow Treatments in Ashford, Kent; Reflexology
Hi, My name is Lisa, I have been working as a nurse in the NHS for over 25 years. I love my job and I love providing care and looking after people. In recent years I have felt drawn to work more holistically and offer care and well being support in a different way. I studied initially for a diploma in reflexology, and was pleased to be awarded a distinction. I followed this with another diploma in aromatherapy massage and was delighted to again be awarded another distinction.
I feel like this is a journey for me and I am excited to help clients who are also moving forward on their personal journey to improved well being.
Lisa Moore, MSc, BSc (Hons), RN, MAR
Reflexology is a complimentary therapy that can result in deep relaxation and promote well-being. Reflexologists believe parts of the feet, head and hands are linked to organs and structures of the body and gentle manipulation of these points (also known as reflexes) can have therapeutic benefits. Reflexology can not provide a diagnosis or claim to treat any specific condition, although many people do report an improvement in their symptoms. I like to think of reflexology supporting the body, easing stress and so promoting enhanced well-being.
Aromatherapy involves the blending of essential oils that have been traditionally used for theraputic benefits. Combined with holistic massage this provides a truly relaxing treatment that can help ease stress and tension and promote restful sleep.
Treatments can be tailored with a choice of oils and a focus on specific muscle groups.
Stress and tension are so common in so many peoples lives. Many of us have so many demands on our time. Stress and tension is known to contribute to poor health and many conditions from insomnia, weight gain, headaches and so many more. All of my treatments are designed to be deeply relaxing and leave people feel more refreshed and energised.
My treatments are often chosen by people who are looking for support with general wellbeing, relaxation, stress, insomnia, long term conditions, chronic pain, fertility and menopause symptoms. Many people also book these treatments simply because they enjoy them and the sense of relaxation and wellbeing they provide.
How many reflexology treatments will I need?
Every person is different and everyone will have a different response to reflexology. As a general rule I recommend 4 weekly sessions initially to really begin to feel the benefits and start the journey to improved wellbeing and balance.
However at your first session we will discuss your current concerns and what you would hope to get out of the treatment, I will then be able to make a more personalised recommendation for you
What happens at my appointment?
What ever treatment you choose I will initially need to take some information from you about your health status, this is important to ensure I am able to give a safe treatment. You will then be asked to sign a consent from to allow me to give your treatment. As reflexology involves the massage and light pressure across both feet and lower legs, usually using a wax on your feet to help my hands glide, you will need to remove your socks for this and wear clothes that allow me to access your lower legs.
For aromatherapy massage clients I will blend a bespoke essential oils blends for you and these will be used for your treatment. I sometimes have left over oils after your treatment, if you bring a small pot you are welcome to take this home.
After your treatment you can take some time to relax come back to the present, water will be available
Does reflexology hurt?
No, but there can be some slight tenderness in some areas. This is a cue for me that those areas will need more attention. I am able to adjust pressure on your feet and adapt the treatment. Reflexology does not involve hard pressure being put on the feet at all
What if I cant make it to a session every week for 4 weeks?
This shouldn't be a problems, the initially weekly sessions are only a recommendation, we can work together to agree the best plan for you
I have tickly feet- can I still have reflexology?
Please be reassured the reflexolgy is not tickly. Many people who have ticklish feet enjoy reflexology
Something came up - can I cancel my appointment?
Of course- life happens, please give me as much notice as you can if you do need to cancel. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will have to be charged at full price as per my cancellations policy
I have sensitive skin or allergies, can I still have a treatment ?
Many of the products I use can be used on sensitive skin, please let me know about any allergies or sensitives. If you are concerned please contact me and we can discuss this before your appointment. We can arrange a patch test if needed.
Please let me know if you would prefer to use vegan products so I can ensure I have these in avaiolable
Who can't have a treatment?
Most people can receive reflexology or aromatherapy massage, there may be occasions where we need to make some adaptions. Some acute illnesses may mean a need to delay treatment- if you have any concerns please get in touch with me and I will be happy to discuss in more detail
